Welcome to the 2020 Fall Sports Season.  ALWAYS an exciting time of the year!

The staff and coaches here at cedar are all preparing to provide our student-athletes as normal of an experience as possible this coming Fall.

AS YOU ARE AWARE, WE ARE AMID A GLOBAL PANDEMIC: Our approach (as with most Michigan High schools) is to move forward with our seasons as of right now. We as a staff will ensure all precautions are taken that the Cedar Springs School Board and Administration have provided, as well as adhering to all CDC and MHSAA guidelines. We want to provide the best learning environment that we can create during this unprecedented time.

On Wednesday, July 29th, the MHSAA released its back to sports plan which will largely guide how we proceed.  That plan can be viewed at www.mhsaa.com or by clicking here.

Prepare for an exciting, fun, crazy, and maybe a little unpredictable Fall Sports Season.  Stay flexible as we work together to provide a safe and exciting fall sports experience for our student-athletes.

YOU WANT TO PLAY/TRYOUT
Top of Page

Plan to attend the below times for practice and tryouts.  For the first practice, you will need a copy of a current physical on file in the Athletic Office, or brought with you.  A current physical is anything AFTER April 15, 2020.  get a blank copy by clicking here
THIS SCHOOL YEAR ONLY - If an athlete has a physical on file from last year, they do not need a new physical. The health questionnaire is in place of that. Athletes need to fill that out and send it to the athletic office or bring it to their coach.  This form can be found by clicking here.  (Then click on the link that says 2020-21 MHSAA Sports Health Questionnaire)
If an athlete answers yes to any of the questions on the health questionnaire, they need to then get a new physical.    Health Questionnaire FAQ

Please do not come to a practice/tryout if you are exhibiting any COVID-19 symptoms (Fever, Cough, Sore Throat, Shortness of Breath, etc).  Or if you are COVID positive, or if you have been in close contact or cared for someone with COVID-19.  Please reach out to the athletic office if you have questions regarding this, john.norton@csredhawks.org.

Athletes will undergo temperature checks, and a symptom check prior to all activities.  This is a protocol to keep everyone as safe as possible from COVID-19.

Athletes are expected to arrive at practice with a face covering on and in place (coach will allow it to be removed during physical activity).  Please provide your own mask, if you need assistance in obtaining a mask, please let the coach know, or contact the AD at john.norton@csredhawks.org.  From arrival at practice until departure, we need athletes to do their best to practice good social distancing.  For parents, the dropping off athletes right before practice, and being on time for pick-up after practice will help us avoid a time frame where student-athletes may lose focus on their social distancing and would be a great help.  During sports activities, there will obviously be times when social distancing is not possible.

YOU MUST BRING YOUR OWN BEVERAGE (AND ALOT OF IT), THERE WILL NOT BE ANY PROVIDED, NOR ANY REFILL STATIONS FOR SANITARY REASONS.

We will do everything in power to keep these athletes safe, but there is inherit risk in athletic participation, especially during this unprecedented time.  Rest assured, we are making all reasonable efforts for every athlete to have an enjoyable, and safe, experience this school year.  This includes increased availability of hand sanitizing stations, as well as more frequent cleaning and disinfectant washing.

UPON MAKING THE TEAM
SCHOOL DESIGNATED CLUB SPORTS (MS Football, HS Bowling, HS Hockey) Will have a separate fee.

Each Coach will attempt to have a Coaches Meeting (which may be virtual) that we encourage everyone to attend.

For any questions, please reach out to your coach, or:
Athletic Secretary: Dana Hilyer at dana.hilyer@csredhawks.org
Athletic Director:  John Norton at john.norton@csredhawks.org
