Sensory Play and Preschool Informational Open House

Come and join us for a fun sensory experience.
Meet representatives and get questions answered from our early childhood programs. Also, you can visit a preschool classroom. There will be a table with information for our Parents as Teachers and Bright Beginnings Program, 3 - 4 year old Tuition Preschool, Special Education Services, GSRP and Head Start.
Classes will be forming for

Kindergarten entrants for the 2017-2018 school year will need documentation of Hearing and Vision Screening through the Kent County Health Department (KCHD). The KCHD will be at Cedar Trails Elementary on the following date:

Your child must be 5 years old by September 1, 2017 to register for Kindergarten. Enroll Today!
This program is designed for students who show readiness for beginning academics. Pre-reading skills include understanding concepts of print, letter/sound
identification and phonemic awareness. The Kindergarten curriculum
provides the mathematical and early literacy foundation that students
will build upon in future grades.
Our Kindergarten program will be Monday through Friday beginning at 8:40
AM with a 3:31 PM dismissal. This is a common dismissal time for our
Kindergarten - 5th grade students.
enacted Michigan Law amended the Revised School Code (MCL 380.1147),
which has changed the minimum age requirement for a child enrolling in
Kindergarten. New legislation has changed the "cut-off" date.
Children must be five years old by September 1, 2017.
Parent Waiver Option
the child is not eligible for enrollment per the guidelines specified
above and will be five years old by December 1st, the child's parent or
legal guardian can apply for a waiver to enroll their student in school.
Waiver deadlines and other information are as follows:
When in receipt of a waiver, districts can make recommendations to
the child's parent or legal guardian, as to the child's readiness for
school, and whether or not the child should be enrolled early.
Regardless of a district's recommendation, the parent or legal guardian retains the sole discretion to enroll their child.

preschool classes are designed for children 3 - 5 years of age. All
preschool programs at Cedar Trails are based on the Michigan Preschool
Standards of Evaluation. The program includes interactive play and the
development of academic and socialization skills. 2017 - 2018 Preschool Registration Classes will be forming for students who are 3 or 4 years old by September 1, 2017. Date: Begins February 27, 2017 Where: Cedar Trails Office Requirements: Certified Birth Certificate, immunization records, $30.00 registration fee
Information will be available starting February 27, 2017 for families that are interested in tuition assistance for preschool.
