About the Music Boosters…
During the 1955-56 school year, the Cedar Springs Music Boosters organization was formed. Their objectives throughout the years since have been:
* To create and maintain an enthusiastic interest in the music departments of the Cedar Springs Public Schools.
* To lend all possible support: moral, physical, and financial to the music programs of the school system.
To cooperate with the Music Department staff, the Administration, and the School Board in providing music programs for the students of the school system.
Every year the Boosters log hundreds of volunteer hours to meet these objectives.
Supporting the Music Departments…
The Boosters are involved in many ongoing projects to help support the music departments.
* The Red Flannel Band Competition is currently one of the oldest and longest-running marching band competitions in the state of Michigan. The Red Flannel Marching Band hosted the 50th Annual Invitational in 2010. It is the longest consecutively running marching band competition in the state of Michigan. More than 100 people work each year at the competition to make it successful.
* In 2009, we joined the Michigan Competing Band Association (MCBA). The band qualified for state finals and placed ninth in Flight III.
* In 2010, we also added hosting an MCBA competition.
* Over 350 students in 6th-12th grade participate in instrumental music in Cedar Springs Public Schools.
* The Boosters operate a concession stand for outdoor spring and fall sports.
* Fundraisers throughout the year include Van Andel Arena Concessions, World’s Finest Chocolate, Scrip, Spartan UPC labels, Meijer Community Rewards, GFS Fun Funds, Family Fare Cash for Class and an Annual Silent Auction.
