Dual Enrollment

Dual Enrollment to college is available to eligible 11th and 12th grade students.  Dual Enrollment permits the student to take classes in both high school and college at the same time.  The purpose of this program is to provide a wider variety of options to high school students to assure all students continue to be challenged and able to pursue their educational goals.

Eligible students may take certain classes at colleges essentially paid for by a percentage of the students’ state funding to the local school district.  Students may take college courses only if a comparable course is not offered by our district and the student has met the eligibility requirements explained below.

Any student who hopes to participate in the Dual Enrollment program should schedule a meeting with his/her school counselor in the spring (for fall classes) and the fall (for winter classes).  At that time the counselor will answer questions and review the process, qualifications and eligibility requirements of the program.  Students should also take advantage of the admissions counseling services for high school students provided by the college.  With the necessary application information, college course codes, course titles, credits, cost, and days/times class meets, the school counselor and the student begin the application form which begins the process.

A student must apply as a Dual Enrollment student to the college where he/she wishes to attend and register him/her self for his/her college class(es).

The college will bill the school district for the tuition and fees, which will be paid up to a percentage of the student’s state funding allowance.  Charges in excess of the amount to be paid by the district will be billed directly to the student.  Books, activity fees, transportation and parking costs are the responsibility of the student.
