Career Preparation

Throughout the time a student is at Cedar Springs High School, our educators are working hard to get each of them ready for 'what's next'. From enrolling in one of the branches of military, work base learning, KCTC, taking AP courses, dual enrollment, applying to an ivy league college, and more - we know each student has a unique path in their life, and our team at the high school is ready to help each student figure out theirs.

For each grade we help focus on different ways to prepare and train, and in the end apply to either a job, college, or a training program.

Our 9th and 10th-grade students focus on the preparation phase. During this time, students use their career interests to enroll in coursework needed for preparation. Students learn about Early Middle College, Dual Enrollment, and AP courses and have the opportunity to enroll at Kent Tech Career Center in the 10th grade for their Junior year.

Our counselors work directly with students to showcase all educational opportunities. They also help students find their strengths and areas for growth and learn how to prepare for job opportunities (creating electronic personal portfolios, cover letters, resumes and interview skills). 

Junior year is when you are narrowing down choices, college visits, job shadows, work based learning, placements, and getting applications ready.

Through the Career, College, and Life Readiness program, students find themselves fully ready for their senior year with a clear path of what will be next for them.

The final year at Cedar Springs Public Schools is the cap to completion for the Career, College, and Life Readiness plan. Senior year, students will be confident and know their plan for 'what's next' after graduation.
