25-26 Electronic Device Policy for state testing, students taking test
  • All District

As we prepare for upcoming state assessments, it is important that families and staff are aware of testing expectations. Before each testing window, district and building assessment coordinators review and communicate guidelines regarding the use of electronic devices.

During state testing, the Michigan Department of Education does not allow students to have any electronic devices in their possession. This includes cell phones, smartwatches, Fitbits, Apple Watches, or any other wearable or electronic technology. These devices must be powered off and stored according to building procedures.

We encourage families to review the 2025–2026 Electronic Device Policy prior to testing to ensure students are fully prepared.

If you have questions or concerns regarding the policy, please contact the main office at your student’s school.

Notice of vacancy for the Board of Education, District Information, with Board of Education sign
  • All District

In accordance with Board Policy 0142.5 and as required by Election Code MCL 168.311, the Cedar Springs Public Schools Board of Education has a vacancy that will be filled within the next 28 days. The term for this board position will run until the next board election in Nov. 2026, at which time the position will be filled for the remaining two years of a four-year term from Jan. 1, 2027, through Dec. 31, 2028.

Any registered voter who resides within the Cedar Springs Public School District is eligible to apply. An applicant must be at least 18 years of age, a citizen of the United States, a resident of the state of Michigan for at least 30 days and a resident of the school district. The Michigan Election law, MCL 168.11, defines the term “residence” as: “A place at which a person habitually sleeps, keeps his or her personal effects, and has a regular place of lodging. If a person has more than one residence, or if a person has a residence separate from that of his or her spouse, that place at which the person resides the greater part of the time shall be his or her official residence for the purposes of this Act.” Thus, even though an applicant may still be a registered voter in a school district and the candidate’s driver's license includes a school district address, he or she could still fail to satisfy this definition.

Interested residents may apply by submitting a letter of interest and a resume to:

Scott Smith, Superintendent
Cedar Springs Public Schools
204 East Muskegon Street
Cedar Springs, MI 49319

Materials may also be submitted electronically to scott.smith@csredhawk.org.

The deadline to apply is 5 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 12, 2026.
